A Long Island school-bus driver was fired for taping shut a loud student's mouth for 10 minutes to keep him quiet, sources said.
Officials at the South Country School District in Bellport said the unidentified male driver had a full load of kids from the Frank P. Long Intermediate School on Jan. 22 when the incident occurred.
The driver "pulled over the bus when students were making too much noise and put tape over one boy's mouth," said an official.
The boy's mouth remained taped shut for some 10 minutes with duct tape as the bus made stops, a source said.
Board of Education president Gregory Miglino Jr. said the district ordered the Montauk Bus Co. to fire the driver because he "allegedly engaged in conduct where he placed tape over the mouth of a student under his charge."
