Pregnant Woman Breaks Up Gang Fight

A pregnant Texas woman is being called a hero by police.

Angela Gutierrez, 26, who is 9 months pregnant, witnessed a group of teens beating up a police officer outside of her mother's home in Brownsville, Texas. Gutierrez then jumped out of her car and ran to get the teens off the officer. The San Antonio Express-News reports that Sgt. Mike Luna said the teens were members of the Rio Grande Valley gang Cinco.

Gutierrez said her gut reaction told her to rescue the officer.

"Something just felt like I had to help him and I just told the guy, 'Leave him alone, he's just doing his job.' That's it. That feeling that you have to help a person out because no one wants to be in that situation, I mean, cops are just doing what they're doing," she said.

Luna praised Gutierrez's actions. "I think she was very brave to do what she did. ... I just think it was kind of an instinct that took over. Maybe she didn't even think about it. ... No one else was doing anything."

The officer is currently recovering at home. The Express-News reports that Jesus Salinas, 17, Jose Salinas, 19, and Adrian Lopez, 17, have been charged with aggravated assault of a public servant. Manual Macias, 17, was charged with aggravated assault of a public servant and evading arrest.
